Gravity and Gizmo

Here are the answers to the gravity sheet.
1. F= 9.34 x 10^-6 N. This is basicallly the force between you and your car when you are at the door.
2. 5.28 x 10^-10 N
3. 4.42 N
4. 7.33 x 10^22 kg
5. a. 9.8 m/s/s ... it shows you how we derive "g" on Earth.
b. Acceleration due to the force of gravity of Earth
c. Earth's mass and radius
...so you have just learned how "g" was determined...
6. 1.99 x 10^20 N
7. 4848 N
8. 3.52 x 10^22 N

Now for the extra credit, have your yellow sheet handy and go here.
Must be turned in Monday. Have a great weekend!

Answers to Problems on page 45!

Since this problem set was already checked in, I'll post answers in order w/ units.

2. 5m south of east
5. in book
10. a) 37.5 m/s North b) Zero, since displacement is zero.
11. 3.0 m/s/s
12. a) -6.9 x 10^-3 m/s/s b) 4.2 m/s (needs to start slowing in plenty of time)
15. No, d= 78.4 m in 4.00 sec.
16. v=vi +gt = 0 + (9.8 m/s/s)(4.00 sec)

Hint for the Shoot the Monkey gizmo: Question number two requires you to draw a right
triangle by drawing in the opposite side and then use SOH CAH TOA (because they give you the angle) to figure out the answer...

Welcome to 2008-2009 Geophysical Science AC

Here is a link to the textbook site for students. It is my strong recommendation that you bookmark this site and refer to it often. Feel free to poke around with it. Basically, you select the chapter that we are currently on from the pull-down menu and then the resources for that chapter will appear.
You will note that some of these items appear on tests/quizzes in class.
